Device Access: Camera access for meal image capture; notification access to send reminders and updates.
Attribution & Device Data: We collect data related to your device and app installation, including your device identifier (such as IDFA on iOS or GAID on Android), approximate location based on IP address, and app install source, for analytics and attribution purposes.
The collected information is utilized to:
Track your dietary habits and progress toward weight goals.
Provide personalized recommendations based on your inputs.
Enhance user experience and app functionality.
Understand how users discovered our app and which marketing sources contributed to installs, using anonymized attribution data.

Third-Party Services:
OpenAI API & Open Food Facts API: Meal images and barcodes are shared for nutritional analysis. No other personal data is shared with these APIs.
AppsFlyer: We use AppsFlyer to analyze how users find and install CalBuddy. AppsFlyer collects install-related data, device identifiers (like IDFA or GAID), IP address, and app launch information to provide anonymized attribution analytics. This data helps us measure the performance of our marketing campaigns and improve user acquisition strategies.
We do not sell or share your personal data with advertisers or unrelated third parties.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data's security is paramount to us:
Storage: All personal data is securely stored in our Supabase database. Supabase employs robust security measures, including AES-256 encryption for data at rest and TLS for data in transit. Sensitive information, such as access tokens and keys, is encrypted at the application level before storage.
Access Controls: We implement role-based access control to ensure that only authorized personnel can access your data.
Backups: Regular backups are performed to prevent data loss.
6. User Rights and Controls
You have control over your personal information:
Access and Modification: You can view and edit your personal data within the app's settings.
Deletion: You may delete your account and associated data through the app. Upon deletion, all your personal information will be removed from our systems promptly.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to provide you with our services and for legitimate business purposes. Once your data is no longer needed, we will securely delete it.
8. International Data Transfers
As our services are intended for users in Israel, your data is processed within Israel and stored in Supabse servers in Frankfurt.
9. Children's Privacy
Our services are intended for individuals aged 16 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If we become aware of such collection, we will take steps to delete the information promptly.
10. Third-Party Analytics & Tracking
We use third-party tools such as AppsFlyer for analytics and attribution. These tools may collect device and install data, including advertising identifiers, IP address, and interactions with marketing links, in order to determine how users discovered and installed the app.
This data may be considered "tracking" under Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. Where required, we request your consent before accessing advertising identifiers. You may opt out of tracking at any time through your device settings.
